Sunday night storms
Our second Sunday night storm brought some heavy wet snow with a smidge of new snow on top. It’s a great base, and once thoroughly groomed, pretty nice skiing! Craftsbury Outdoor center has some great skiing, and this weekend’s warmer weather should make all the trails soft until the next round – let’s hope for lots of snow after the first part of this Sunday’s storm.
Stowe Cross Country Center open!
Stowe Mountain Resort’s Cross Country center is now open. If you plan to purchase a Nordic pass with the Stowe Nordic discount (40% off) before 12/15/23, please bring your membership confirmation with you. We will be passing the full Stowe Nordic member list to the Touring Center on 12/15.
Tour de Stowe, January 20th
Join us for a fabulous tour on some of Stowe’s best Nordic trails. The Tour de Stowe is a non-competitive classic technique ski tour taking place on the gorgeous trails of Trapp Family Lodge and Stowe Mtn Resort cross-country centers. This is a reimagining of the Stowe Mini-Marathon that some may remember from 20 years ago and this event is intended to be a fun challenge for all ages.
The courses will start and end at the Trapps Outdoor Center. The 25km course will be a loop and there will be a 15 km cutoff for those who prefer the shorter distance. The 5 km short course is for K-6th graders with treats at the finish. Also at the finish, a Festive Expo is planned with representatives from some great Nordic related companies.
25km/15km Course Info:
Open to all ages able to complete the hilly course. Check-in will be at the yurt beside the Trapp’s Outdoor Center from 8:30 – 9:45 am with a start time of 10:00 am. Includes post-event Bierhall party.
Jr. Category 15K Course:
Reduced entry fee for age 17 and under skiers to do the 15km course only. Registration 10:00-10:30 am at the Trapps Outdoor Center. Start time is 10:30 am. (Bierhall not included.)
5km Course Info:
A fun course intended for kids in the K-6th grade novice age group. Check in at the yurt beside Trapps Outdoor Center from 10-10:45 am with start at 11 am. Parents are welcome to ski with kids at their discretion. Treats will be provided at the finish. (Bierhall party not included.)
All proceeds from this event go to Stowe Nordic Foundation and will be used to support youth nordic ski programs in Vermont.

Registration Info:
All entries are non-refundable but may be transferred to another person via skireg.com. In the event of event cancellation, entry fees will be refunded less SkiReg transaction fee. Day of event registration will be an additional $10 for the 25km and 15km tours.
- Adults 25k/15k: $50 NENSA member, $55 non-NENSA member
o includes a trail pass, food stop along the route, expo at the finish, and a celebratory reception for adults at the Von Trapp Bierhall including food and 2 beer tickets – co-hosted by NENSA (New England Nordic Ski Association), Stowe Nordic and Trapps.
- Juniors (17 & under) 15k only: $20 NENSA member, $25 non-NENSA member
o Includes trail pass, food stop and festive expo (no Bierhall entry).
- BKL/Youth (K-6th grade) 5k: $10
o Includes blueberry soup along route, finish treats, and festive expo (no Bierhall)

Youth Winter Ski Program still has openings!
- Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays December 20 – March 14, snow permitting, (except 12/27 and 12/29)
- Times: 3:30-4:40 pm
- Where: Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center
- Cost: The Stowe Nordic program fee is $100 per child. A season ski pass at the Trapp Outdoor Center is required for your child to participate, but Stowe Nordic will provide this pass for children not otherwise covered by a family pass at Trapp’s. Families with children in the program will also receive a complimentary family membership in Stowe Nordic. Season rentals of skis/boots/poles are available from Stowe Nordic. Women’s Ski Program still has openings!
- Dates: January 3 through March 6, 2024 with an optional add-on of March 13
- Times: Weekly, Wednesdays, 3:30-5:00 pm
- Where: Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center
- Program Costs: The Stowe Nordic program fee is $120. Participants must also be members of Stowe Nordic ($30 individual; $50 family).
- Trail Use Fees: All participants must also purchase a trail pass from Trapp’s. Last winter’s pass prices are listed here and most likely there will be a small increase for this year. Stowe Nordic Women’s Program participants may purchase a winter season ski pass from Trapp’s at a discounted rate of 10% off. To obtain this discount, participants must
