Stowe Nordic Sponsored Events

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2:  TOUR DE STOWE

Tour de Stowe, a tour de challenge featuring classic skiing through the Trapp Family Lodge countryside with a Cold Hollow cider & donut pitstop, an Expo, and a post-event party at the Von Trapp Bierhall with some Austrian schnitzel and bratwurst, fresh pretzels, and beverages.  There will also be a cash bar offering the award-winning Trapp lager.

This event is intended to be a fun challenge for all ages.  The courses will start and end at the Trapps Outdoor Center.  The 22 km course will be a loop, with a 14 km cutoff for those who prefer shorter distances.  The 5K course is for young skiers with a blueberry soup stop.

The hills truly are alive! Skiing, friends, delicious food, fun products, and a community celebration in the Bierhall are certainly a few of our favorite things!  Proceeds go to the Stowe Nordic Foundation, which supports youth Nordic programs in northern Vermont. Adults and high schoolers skiing either 22 km or 14 km start the tour at 10 AM, with kids starting their 5 km tour at 11:30 AM.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 5TH: POKER SKI

Join us on Sunday, January 5, for the inaugural Trapp Poker Ski. What’s a Poker Ski, you may ask? Well, we’re taking a tradition from the motorcycle world, trading the Harleys for skinny skis and competing for the best poker hand. You need to pick up one card from five different places to make your poker hand. Those five places are (1) the Outdoor Center retail counter, (2) the Main Lodge Lounge or Dining Room, (3) the Bierhall, (4) the Kaffeehaus, and of course you need to get up to the (5) Slayton Pasture Cabin. Once you have picked up your five cards, you can return your hand to the OC to see how it stacks up with the best hand of the day winning a $25 Kaffeehaus gift card.

The event is FREE, though all participants need a day pass or season pass. There is an honor system here, with no trading of cards and no picking up of multiple cards allowed. We won’t judge if you drive to the Kaffeehaus or Bierhall, though we know there’s only one way to reach the Cabin. Poker hands must be turned in to the OC by 4:30 PM. Please note the hours of each of the locations so you can plan your route effectively: OC 8:30 AM – 5 PM (9 AM opening until 12/21); Cabin 10 AM – 3:30 PM; Main Lodge Lounge or Dining Room 7:30 AM – 9 PM; Bierhall 11:30 AM – 9 PM; Kaffeehaus 7 AM – 4 PM.

Please RSVP here if you plan to join.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 9th: TOUR DE GREENSBORO (classic), GREENSBORO, VT

The Tour de Greensboro is a non-competitive classic-style ski tour event in the beautiful Greensboro, Vermont. The course is a 25 km single loop starting and ending at the Highland Lodge with a 15 km cutoff for those who prefer not to ski the entire distance. Participants will experience some of the best classic skiing in New England with spectacular views along the course, incorporating the Greensboro Trail System and private trails. The Craftsbury Outdoor Center and private land owners will professionally groom the course. Participants will start the tour at 10 AM. Please note that this event is not for beginner skiers. You must know the basic classic techniques needed for uphills and downhills and the fitness required to ski 25 km or 15 km.

Please note that as of December 23, there are only 7 slots left, but there is a waiting list.
