Stowe Derby 2022 – Short & Sweet

Despite warm temperatures in the days prior to the event, and a big freeze the night before, organizers were able to pull off a shorter, downhill only version of the Stowe Derby. With groomers not being able to till the nordic trails, including numerous dangerously ice-glazed and rock-hard hills, the Derby headed down the Toll Road and ended at the Touring center– Fastest times ever!

Short Course skiers got the full experience, racing from Thompson Park all the way to the traditional finish in town.  Thanks to the big melt/freeze there was a little more walking than usual, but most of the Rec Path held its snow and provided speedy conditions for the mostly skate skiing crowd of over 50 short-course racers!
