Wow! (Again!) It’s been a December to Remember… Happy Holidays and think (more) snow!

Program Update

The von Trapp Family Resort Outdoor Center has been a busy place on most weekday afternoons with Stowe Nordic Masters, Basics, Women’s and Youth Programs in full swing (plus the Stowe school programs!). The great conditions have made it easier to learn those new skills without having to worry about conditions (though many afternoons did get pretty chilly!)

Grooming

The Rec Path has been groomed. We plan to groom it as often as it needs it. To check conditions, Check Stowe Nordic‘s Conditions Page

See the best nordic skiers in the world at Lake Placid and skip the hassle of driving and parking – sign up for the Stowe Nordic bus to the Nordic World Championships Sprints on Saturday March 21st!

The Sprints are a fun event where those skiers who qualify race a short course (less than 3 minutes) in heats of 6 six skiers from quarter finals, semi finals to final. One of the last chances to see Jessie DIggins race before she retires!

The weekend event is The Stifel Lake Placid Finals, the championships of the COOP FIS Cross Country World Cup is happening March 19–22, 2026 at Mt Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, NY. This historic event marks the culmination of the international cross-country skiing season—and you can be there to witness it all.

Cost for the bus would be $50 (plus driver’s tip). You’d also have to buy your own ticket for the event (General Admission $10-20 or VIP ticket $140). We’d leave in the morning at 7am with pickups at the Waterbury and Richmond Park and Rides. We should arrive in time to see the qualifications, the full event and then will return home after the event. We still need more folks to keep the bus price at $50, so spread the word!

If you are interested in joining us, please email Jean Kissner- jeankissner4@gmail.com. Tickets for the event will sell out, so if you are interested, be sure to buy your tickets!

Women’s Day Sunday January 25th at Holderness, NH

2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the New England Women’s XC Ski Day – a cherished tradition that brings together women of all levels for a day of inspiration, camaraderie, and winter adventure.Founded in 2002 by Olympian Trina Hosmer of Stowe, Vermont, this event was inspired by the energy of Alaska’s Ski for Women event. Trina’s vision was simple but powerful: create a space where women can connect, learn, and thrive on skis – all while supporting women-centered causes. Each year, we choose a local nonprofit organization that supports women, with event proceeds going directly to that cause.

At the heart of Women’s XC Ski Day are fun, welcoming learn-to-ski clinics led by all-women instructor teams. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or looking to refine your technique, the emphasis is on joy, community, and encouragement.

The limit for Women’s Day is 200. It does fill up, so if you are interested, sign up soon!
