The leaves are mostly down, days and nights are chillier – soon we’ll see snow on the mountain.  Time to make winter plans and join Stowe Nordic’s programs and events!

Annual Meeting and Fall Party – Friday November 17th.

Stowe Mtn Resort XC Season Pass 40% Club Discount

Once again, Stowe Mtn Resort has generously offered Stowe Nordic members 40% off cross-country season passes.  To qualify you must join Stowe Nordic by December 15th.  Then you can purchase your pass at the SMR Touring Center any time after they open (usually mid-to-late December, depending on snow).

Youth Winter Ski Program Registrations will Open in November

  • Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays December 20 – March 14, snow permitting, (except 12/27 and 12/29)
  • Times: 3:30-4:40 pm
  • Where: Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center
  • Cost: The Stowe Nordic program fee is $100 per child. A season ski pass at the Trapp Outdoor Center is required for your child to participate, but Stowe Nordic will provide this pass for children not otherwise covered by a family pass at Trapp’s. Families with children in the program will also receive a complimentary family membership in Stowe Nordic. Season rentals of skis/boots/poles are available from Stowe Nordic. Sally Howe Memorial Bench

Sally Howe, a long time Stowe Nordic member, passed away from cancer in April.  Sally was a long time participant in our Masters program, and assisted Trina Hosmer at the NENSA Women’s Day event for many years. She also showed her dedication to Stowe Nordic by faithfully coming from South Burlington for training as well as the non-snow season weekly hikes up Mt Mansfield. She  enriched the lives of others with her career as a guidance counselor, by creating music with local symphony groups and choruses as well as being a good friend to many.

To keep Sally alive in our memories, Stowe Nordic would like to put a memorial bench at Trapps near the top of Picnic Knoll. If you need a break on the way up to the cabin (or need a break after zooming down Parizo),  you could stop and share your ski adventures with Sally.  If we raise more than the cost of the bench, the balance would go to a fund that Stowe Nordic could use to pay ski coaches for our teaching programs. SkiErg World Sprints

Mark your calendars: The 15th Annual SkiErg World Sprints will be held November 9–12, 2023.

Whether you use the SkiErg for general fitness, adaptive conditioning, cross-training, CrossFit, or to train for competitive cross-country skiing, this 1000-meter virtual race is a great goal. It gives you a chance to put down a personal best for the 1k distance, and allows you to see how you stack up with others of your age and gender around the world.

How it works: Race 1000 meters on the SkiErg at your club, school or home, November 9–12, 2023. Post your time to the Concept2 Online Logbook by 5 p.m. ET Monday, November 13, 2023

Tour de Greensboro

The Tour de Greensboro is a non-competitive classic style ski tour event located in the beautiful town of Greensboro Vermont. The course is a 25 km single loop starting and ending at the Highland Lodge with a 15 km cutoff for those who prefer not to ski the entire distance. Participants will experience some of the best classic skiing in NE with spectacular views along the course incorporating the Greensboro Trail System and private trails. The course will be professionally groomed by the Craftsbury Outdoor Center and private landowners.

Each participant will receive a Toko ski hat, a food station stop along the route, trail pass and chili/cornbread after finishing at the Highland Lodge. The event is a fundraiser for the Greensboro Association, which serves as a funding resource to support social, educational, municipal, and environmental projects that are important to the Town of Greensboro and its residents.
