January 16, 2016: The temperature oscillated above and below freezing depending on elevation. The snow base was solid and the cover, though marginal, was definitely skiable for the most part. Waxing was challenging as the fresh wet snow wanted to build up on ski bases, or offer zero grip depending on which side of freezing it found itself. The mist generated by warming temperatures created a ghostly aura. Larry, seen here traversing Dewdrop Glades, summed it up this way:

“The scene reminds me of a Tolkien plot: high mountain pass, ghostly fog, furtive figures in the background stalking, knowing the Serpentine Tree and Devil’s Dishpan lay ahead, trying to recall where I put that ring!”
