2018-2019 Volunteer Opportunities

Member volunteers hold a special place in our hearts and we sincerely appreciate (and need) your help to do what we do (run high caliber race events, maintain Stowe’s amazing backcountry trail network, and more).  So in thanks for the time you give to us we want to give back to you too…

Stowe Nordic’s Volunteer Give Back Program:

  • For every ½ day a club member volunteers you will earn one entry in our huge volunteer raffle (dozens of great prizes including a new pair of race skis for one lucky volunteer)
  • FREE volunteer appreciation dinner in March where raffle winners will be drawn.
  • After-parties at all major events (and there are lots this season) with free beer, wine, and food/snacks
  • And even more goodies for some events

Mansfield Backcountry Trail Work Days

  • Dates:
    • Sunday Oct. 21st
    • Saturday Oct 27th
    • Saturday Nov 3rd
  • Meet at 9am at the Stowe Mtn Resort XC Center for all dates

  • Volunteer Give Back:  Earn up to 2 raffle entries per day, plus an invitation to our volunteer dinner

 

Saturday Nov. 3rd  – Vermont 10 Miler – 12:00pm

  • From 12:00-3pm we are helping with the VT 10 Mile road race doing race registration
  • Volunteer Give Back:  long sleeve race shirt, free snacks/light lunch, 1 raffle entry, invitation to our volunteer dinner, AND free admission to the NENSA Winter Kickoff Party at Trapps Bierhall starting at 3:30pm on the 3rd (a $30 value with free beer & food at Trapps)

 

Thursday Jan 3rd – Tuesday Jan 8th – US Nationals at Craftsbury

  • Craftsbury will be hosting the nordic events of the US Ski and Snowboard National Championships this January.  While it is not a Stowe Nordic event, we always try to help out our friends up in Craftsbury.
  • More details on roles and times that volunteers will be needed for will follow later this fall
  • This event is eligible for Stowe Nordic club member
  • Volunteer Give Back:  Earn up to 2 raffle entries per day & an invitation to our volunteer dinner

 

Friday Feb. 1st – Saturday Feb 2nd  – UVM Carnival

  • Many roles need filling on each day to put on two days of high level racing
  • This is a dry run for NCAA’s which will be at Trapps in March so we are hoping many of the same volunteers will be able to help at both events

  • Volunteer Give Back:  earn up to 8 raffle entries (if you’re really ambitious), free Trapps day pass good for the rest of the season, breakfast snacks and lunch provided, and an invitation to our volunteer dinner, plus after-party at Trapps on Saturday after the races including free beer, wine & snacks

 

Monday March 4th – Friday March 8th – NCAA Finals

  • UVM is hosting NCAA’s this season – Trapps is the venue and Stowe Nordic is the partner ski club
  • This will be an exciting event to be part of and many volunteers are needed to put on a national level championship event
  • Race days are Wednesday 3/6 and Friday 3/8 which are the big ones, but lots of set-up and other help will be needed on non-race days as well.
